By Blyare’s Mom, Bridget:
Blyare is very intelligent and loves learning. She is very kind and caring. She loves to read and loves learning in general. She has a huge innovative imagination. St. Frederick is the feeder school for the elementary school that she attended. I was pleased with the education that she had been receiving prior, so I felt like St. Frederick school would do a good job educating Blyare, as well.
I chose St. Fredrick because it has small class sizes, advanced curriculum and many options for sports and extracurricular activities. Sometimes children can get lost in large classrooms, and I wanted Blyare to get individual attention and a head start in her classes. The many options for sports and extracurricular activities allows more students to be able to participate unlike most schools that have few options which are limited to only a certain number of students.
“The quality of a child’s education shouldn’t have anything to do with the size of their parent’s paycheck or the zone that a child lives in because of their zip code.”
Undoubtedly, the opportunity to attend St. Frederick would not have been possible without the scholarship from the Louisiana Scholarship Program. Having the ability to make a choice and not have to choose the failing school which we are zoned for was a great feeling. The quality of a child’s education shouldn’t have anything to do with the size of their parent’s paycheck or the zone that a child lives in because of their zip code. All students should be given a fair opportunity to attend a school where they will thrive in a positive environment. I think that it is a great opportunity given to families to be able to make a choice of where their children go to school.
