Nathaniel Cunneen is the Texas State Director at the American Federation for Children. Before joining AFC full-time, Nathan was a member of the 2020 Future Leaders Fellowship Cohort, which teaches school choice beneficiaries how to advocate for school choice nationwide.
Nathan grew up as a school choice beneficiary in Florida, spending eleven total years as a recipient of the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship program. He spent two interim years in public school at the beginning of high school, which quickly taught him the value of school choice. Having the opportunity to attend a private school, twice, changed Nathans’s life, and he is determined to provide the same opportunity to other students. Nathan received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Global Studies from Loyola University Maryland, becoming the first in his family to graduate college.
Nathan’s writing has been published in the New York Post, Fox News, the Washington Examiner, RealClear Politics, Florida Politics, and the Education Post. In previous roles, he supported AFC’s efforts to pass school choice legislation in several states, including Iowa, Idaho, and South Carolina.
