Portia Green is a dedicated and dynamic educational leader with over two decades of experience in teaching and administration, committed to fostering student success and community impact.

As Principal of Prichard Preparatory School in Whistler, Alabama, she oversees a team of 20 staff members and leads the education of 120 elementary students.

Under her leadership, the school achieved AdvancEd/SACS/COGNIA re-accreditation in 2020 and saw a 28% increase in enrollment. Prichard Preparatory School also gained national recognition during her tenure, earning the prestigious Yass Prize Stop Award and honors from the CATO Institute and Forbes.

Portia’s journey at Prichard Preparatory School began as a parent seeking affordable, high-quality education for her daughter. Her dedication and natural leadership led her to progress organically within the school, serving as a parent volunteer, teacher, Executive Director, and now Principal.

In her previous role as Executive Director, Portia successfully managed the school’s finances, human resources, operations, and compliance, ensuring efficiency and adherence to regulatory standards. Her career began in the classroom, where she inspired young learners as a teacher, lead interventionist, and Girl Scout troop leader.

Portia holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mobile and an MBA from Columbia Southern University. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in organizational leadership.

Her commitment to excellence has earned her numerous accolades, including the Nappie Award for Best Private Principal in Mobile and Baldwin County, Alabama, the Mobile Bay 40 Under 40 Award, and the Making a Difference Award from the Alabama Minority GOP in 2022. A proud member of Leadership Mobile’s Class of 2024, Portia continues to make a profound impact on education and her community.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Portia is deeply involved in community organizations, including the American Heart Association, Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama, the Circle of Red Women, and the University of Mobile Alumni Council. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Independent School Association.

Portia has been married to D’Alo for 20 years, and they are proud parents of three children.
