I was homeschooled all the way up until my high school years by my mother. That was a different experience within itself and was much different than going to a traditional school. When I first started to attend HOPE, I never knew that I was attending the school free of charge.
The education I received at HOPE was similar to what I had received at home. The teachers would work with you one on one and they helped push you to have goals for yourself. I remember being so grateful when I found out that I attended such an amazing institute for free. I felt blessed that not only was I going to school for free, but I was receiving a quality education.
I took what I learned at HOPE with me to college and was successful there as well. I have my bachelors in sports and exercise science from Wisconsin Lutheran College, and I am now graduate school working on my master’s in leadership and innovation. I am also a graduate assistant for the basketball. The Milwaukee Voucher Program allowed me to receive an education that gave me the tools to thrive in school and in life.
