AFC Calls on Senators to Confirm Linda McMahon’s Nomination

The American Federation for Children (AFC) commends Senate leaders for advancing the nomination of Linda McMahon to serve as secretary of the Department of Education.

Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, American Federation for Children:

“We are one step closer to school choice in every state, and I commend Senate leaders for moving the nomination of Linda McMahon to serve as secretary of the Department of Education. Walter Blanks, a school choice recipient, and I were in attendance at her hearing, where she made a compelling case for the type of reform our nation’s education system so desperately needs. While the bureaucracy of the Department of Education only grows, national test scores continue to prove our education system is in an undeclared state of emergency. Something has to change. As Ms. McMahon affirmed, she and President Trump are strong supporters of school choice and returning control of education to the states and families. We must work together to make school choice and education freedom a reality for all families, especially lower-income families, across the country. We are eager to support her confirmation as Secretary of Education and call on the Senate to send her to work as soon as possible.”
