Ed McDermott is the Managing Partner of Spring Tide Partners, a private investment firm that makes concentrated, long-term investments in public and private companies across a broad range of industries. Before founding Spring Tide Partners, Ed was a co-managing partner of SPO Partners & Co.

Ed has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including the San Francisco Foundation, San Francisco School Volunteers, and the BASIC Fund, an organization that provides educational scholarships to students from low-income families.
