I am originally from Washington, D.C, where I resided with my mother, my grandmother, and my two siblings. Growing up, I attended a public grade school, a public charter school, and then graduated from a Catholic high school, Archbishop Carroll High School. I graduated with a 4.3 GPA and was the first in my family to attend college.
One of my major accomplishments with the Opportunity Scholarship was becoming the valedictorian of my class in 2008. This was a major blessing and I will forever cherish this moment.

Two of the most influential people I have had the pleasure of meeting are Miss. Virginia Walden Ford and Mr. Foster Friess. Miss. Virginia Walden Ford is a school choice advocate and a great mentor to me. Mr. Friess made a great financial contribution to my first year in college that was greatly valued and appreciated. To this day, I am great friends with these individuals and will forever cherish that.
My educational foundation helped me not only go to college, but work to attain my PhD. As a postdoctoral fellow at the John Hopkins University, I am studying cancer research. Without the opportunity scholarship, none of this would have been possible. It really facilitated me in becoming the person I am today.
