I have three children, and I’m a single mother. I used the Ed Choice scholarship in Ohio for my three children. The turning point for me was when my oldest son came home from school one day and said to me, “Mom, we’re learning the same things we learned from last year.” I thought that was not okay.
Through a friend at church, I found out about the scholarship. I knew that where we were, the schools were in a failing status, so it was a perfect opportunity. As a single mom, the scholarship helped me monetarily because otherwise, there was no way I could afford the tuition payment.
All three of my children graduated high school, and two are in college now. I know the scholarship also made a difference in their confidence and that someone cared enough to make that extra step and do the research to find a different place for them.
