Well, it started when Larry was very little. Every time we took him to school he would cry and scream he was so scared to be left alone and not have us by him. Everyone thought it was me causing him to behave this way, but it wasn’t.
In 2019 Larry was finally tested for autism, and he was high functioning autism with a high IQ. I can’t remember exactly how we found Lexington Academy, but I am so grateful that we did. This is a school dedicated to kids with all types of autism. He was also diagnosed with severe separation anxiety and if it wasn’t for the staff at this school my son would have the positive outcome. He was calm and has been loving Lexington a lot. So, I am grateful for the help and has made Larry feel safe and loved.
Every kid deserves a shot at a great education. Being at a normal school is very stressful and highly damaging. They tend to shut down and have severe depression and anxiety.
I only wished I knew about this school for my other son. He was treated so poorly it broke my heart. He was not treated right and struggled a lot. He would ask for help, but they would say he’s fine and give him a passing grade when they knew that he didn’t pass. They would lie about his grade just to get him out. It worked because he ended dropping out his junior year.
