Leondrus Wright is the Associate Director and Propel Fellow at Sage Collegiate, with a diverse background in education, culinary arts, and social justice. He began his educational career as a Teach For America corps member, teaching 4th grade in Clark County, Nevada, before transitioning into leadership roles in education.
Mr. Wright’s professional journey includes working as a chef and Executive Chef in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he developed menus, managed kitchens, and ran his own catering company, The Wright Touch. He also competed on local cooking shows and participated in community events. In 2020, he relocated to Las Vegas, where he taught at Ann Lynch Elementary School and held leadership roles as Assistant Principal and Leader in Residence at Cactus Park and Larchmont Public Charter Schools. His education-related work has been supported by fellowships focused on developing leadership and educational strategies for underrepresented educators.
A passionate advocate for social justice, Mr. Wright co-founded Brother with Purpose, a nonprofit focused on empowering marginalized communities. He has also worked with the Human Rights Campaign and the NAACP and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. His academic achievements include an Associate in Culinary Arts, a Bachelor’s in Political Science, a Master’s in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. Additionally, Mr. Wright is a U.S. Army Reserves veteran and a proud father to a high school senior, A’kalia Wright. His career reflects a deep commitment to both educational excellence and social justice, particularly for Black and Latino communities.
