The voucher I received has helped me tremendously. I don’t know what I would have done on behalf of my kids without it, being a single mother. During the pandemic, my daughter’s school was closed and her grades began to fall because assistance wasn’t available at the public school she attended. I don’t believe that the school was equipped to provide the necessary care and attention that my daughter needed to succeed.
However, there is a private school in my neighborhood that had resources and offered much more on behalf of my children. My daughter was able to have in-person instruction, socialize with friends and play volleyball. After joining St. Philip’s Lutheran School, I could see the immediate benefits from the support that my daughter was receiving. Her attitude and energy changed for the better and she was eager to get to school. My daughter is now on the Honor Roll and is thriving and tutoring her peers. The school has done a great job of assisting parents also. They have essentially created their community.
“All families should have the opportunity to send their kids to whatever school provides the best opportunity for their kids to succeed.”
I feel incredibly blessed to have my kids in a private school and feel quite fortunate. I do recognize that many families are not as fortunate, and it bothers me to see other family members and friends not have the same opportunity as my family. All families should have the opportunity to send their kids to whatever school provides the best opportunity for their kids to succeed. It should be the choice of the parent whether to send their kids to a private, charter or public school. I have found the best school for my kids and it’s through the school choice program in Milwaukee. I am doing my part to spread the word and assist families with the voucher program.
